If your Bullant Den comes with sellotape around the test tube, DO NOT remove it or you will loose the pressure vacuum on the initial fill. When the test tube is emptied it can be refilled through the hole, and the plug placed in. The test tube does not have to be filled all the way up, as a small air bubble will prevent the plug moving toward the end of the test tube. In any case removal of the plug with any water in the tube will cause the sponge to seep fluid.
NOTE: Vesion 2 has the main entry off to 1 side we thought this would be more practical for the Bullies and open the unit up for the addition of the new add on module packs.
Hot off the Press comes the Bullant Den our latest creation with outstanding features including:

Removable lid with handle covering the Entry porch where the Ants can select which Tube they wish to access.

layered insert for the test tubes to fit so they do not Roll around and making removal easy.
Bullants do not require a lot of room when first stating off and this Bullant Den is the ideal home for them. These Dens will suit them for a number of years.
We also recommend one of our sliding magnetic lid Outworlds to compliment your setup of simply use your own. Our smaller sliding lid outworld will take 2 modules side by side with room to spare.
You can cover the test tube part with sand and just use a small brush to brush it back for a quick peek. Or even better cover the tubes with red projection film or similar and this can be removed when you want to take a peek, this can also be covered in sand for more privacy.
Bullants Eat sweet things as their main diet but the larvae need protein, this is provided by 3 means, Trophalaxis (mouth to mouth), workers which also lay eggs and feed to the young and queen and live food such as small flys and mealworms killed mainly first of course. However too much live food can spoil in the nest are and cause an anomia spike which will kill the whole colony.
Our Ant Tucker is great for the Adults and this can be placed in a feeding bowl in the outworld. Give them too much and they will cover it with sand so moderation is the key. They will also need access to water we have found that a soft drink cap with a cotton ball placed in it and kept wet all the time is great for them to drink from.
Also a Cricket with legs kicking inside the nest area is not healthy as the Ants can sting each other by accident and in the worse scenario you could loose the queen.
Bullants are recommended for the experience Ant Keeper but this information and the correct equipment with help you to eventually have a thriving colony.
This set up should last the colony for the first few years of existence and we are designing other extensions that can be added onto it as the colony grows.
We are now introducing THE BULLAN DEN expansion module to give the nest an extra couple of years in the modules. You can easily add the module by sitting it side by side with your existing purchase. The Expansion Module has an entry in the top of the lid, meaning if you cover the unit in sand it will see the Ants coming up out of the ground just like in the wild.
And to get into both modules straight away for established colonies save a little bit by buying the duel module pack listed as one of the purchasing variations.
